Service: The Nook, 3 bedded Therapeutic Children’s Home, with on-site school
Salary: £24,850 - £28,475
Earnings: £28,475 - £32,100 based on 7 sleep ins per month
Hours: 40.5 hours per + sleep ins
Shift pattern : 1 shift on, 2 shifts off
Shifts either start at 10:00 until 22:30 with the sleep, or some may be 07:30 start until 22:00 with no sleep. You will work 11 shifts per month and sleep in approximately 6-7 times per month.
Our Children’s home is located in Colne (BB8) at the end of the M65 Motorway, this home is easily accessible from areas of East Lancashire, including Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Nelson & Clitheroe, in addition to surrounding areas such as Keighley, Skipton & Ilkley. Our children's home is a 3 bedded therapeutic service, for girls aged 11-17 supported by one of Hexagon’s psychologists.
We are seeking to appoint a Residential Support Worker for our children’s home. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a highly established and successful children’s home, learning from experienced, skilled team of likeminded individuals who share a passion for giving the children in care the very best support.
No two days will be the same supporting young people to achieve their very best. You will have a varied array of tasks whilst on shift; everything from cooking & cleaning, taking part in activities and games, taking Young People out to appointments/meetings, managing challenging behaviours, or even sitting and watching TV with the Young People.
We aim to create a positive, relaxed home environment where the young people feel safe, supported & listened to. You will be inducted by our industry leading, award winning learning & development team, and guided in your role by more senior staff members, including psychologists/therapy team to establish appropriate boundaries, manage behaviours effectively and nurture the young people in your care towards positive futures.
Experience of working in a residential home for children is advantageous, although not essential. Please bear in mind this role is shift work and requires you to work sleep ins at the home at the end of a shift before handing over to another staff team the following day, the rolling rota covers evenings, weekends, bank holidays/public holidays shared amongst the staff team.
The Young People who reside in the home attend school which is in a separate building on-site Monday to Thursday full days, and a half day on Fridays.
