Job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Gynaecologist with an interest in Oncology. You will join a team of 28 consultants working across the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in a busy District General Hospital. This post is a Gynaecology only role covering Theatre, gynaeoncology clinics and MDT, colposcopy, vulval clinics, general gynaecology clinics, and contributing acute gynaecology take and non-resident on calls in a 1:16 frequency to the antenatal clinics, external cephalic version, elective caesarean section lists and resident on calls with no non‑resident shifts. All acute services including the gynaecology ward are based at the Princess Royal site with elective activities provided at both the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites.

Main duties of the job
* Cover Theatres, Inpatient and day case Gynaeoncology
* Lead Gynaeoncology clinics and MDT sessions
* Provide colposcopy and vulval clinic services
* Run general gynaecology clinics
* Attend 1:16 Acute Gynaecology shifts with non‑resident on‑call duties
* 1 PA available in the job plan for a corporate SPA role to be agreed with the Clinical Director, dependent on skills and interests
Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and the Clinical Director within 3 months of starting in post. The plan will outline duties, responsibilities and objectives for the upcoming year, covering clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial duties. For a full‑time contract the plan is based on a 10 PA working week, divided into 7.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 Core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). An additional 1 SPA may be discussed with the Gynaecology CD to match the successful candidate's strengths and needs. The PAs allocation may be reviewed and adjusted when diary exercise data or service demands require a team job plan review.
Qualifications (Essential)
* MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
* Appropriate qualification or experience in Maternal Medicine
* ATSM/SITM in Oncology or equivalent
* ATSM/SITM in Colposcopy or equivalent
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Vulval care
Entry Criteria (Essential)
* Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
