An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and self-motivated Senior Nurse to work on the Island of Raasay. It is a small island that hosts about 160 people which is accessed by a regular ferry. The District Nursing team provides 24 hour unscheduled on the island, with the skills to be a first responder for any acute illness and minor or major trauma. The post holder will be a part of the dynamic Skye and Lochalsh Integrated Health and Social Care Team, District Nursing Service.
The post will allow you to further develop your interest and skills whilst working with this friendly and supportive team in an area of outstanding beauty. You will provide an innovative community nursing service for people in close collaboration with their family, carers, and colleagues working as part of an integrated health and social care team.
You should have a sound knowledge of clinical skills relevant to community nursing, experience of managing long term conditions, excellent communication skills, have the ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
Due to the unscheduled care element of the job, the post holder would be required to live on the Island of Raasay. There is a NHS rentable property available for this post on Raasay if the post holder wishes to rent it. There is additionally a relocation fund that can be requested for those moving into NHS Highland.
This is a Secondment for 6 months but with the likelihood of a rolling extension. This is a great opportunity to try out living on a remote island and working within that community.
A full driving licence is essential and a pool car may be available for work purposes but on occasions use of own vehicle will be required.
