Support Brent’s digital transformation journey, empowering the Council and Brent residents to benefit fully from digital innovation and change. Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
The Post
This role within the Digital Transformation team will play a vital role in helping the Council deliver modern, user‑centred digital services for residents and staff. Working within a busy digital, data, and technology team, the postholder will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects that improve how people access information, engage with services, and navigate the Council’s online platforms. It’s a role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to contribute to meaningful change.
Day to day, the project support officer will provide essential project support—tracking progress, maintaining documentation, coordinating meetings, and ensuring actions are followed through. They will help gather user insights, support testing activities, and work closely with service teams to understand requirements and translate them into clear, structured information for project leads. The role also involves monitoring risks and dependencies, preparing reports and updates for stakeholders, and helping ensure that digital projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Key Areas Of Work Will Include
* supporting digital inclusion initiatives
* assisting with the rollout of new digital tools
* contributing to service redesign initiatives
* helping embed good project governance across the team
The officer will also play a part in promoting digital best practice, championing accessibility, and supporting the Council’s wider digital transformation ambitions. Because the work spans multiple services, the postholder will build strong relationships across the organisation and gain exposure to a wide range of operational and strategic priorities.
What makes this role particularly rewarding is the chance to see the real‑world impact of your work. Whether it’s helping residents access services more easily, supporting frontline teams with better digital tools, or contributing to innovative projects that shape the future of the borough, you’ll be part of a team that is improving lives through thoughtful, inclusive design. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into project delivery to develop skills, gain experience, and grow within a supportive and forward‑thinking local authority.
The Person
The successfully appointed candidate will bring a proactive, can‑do attitude and a genuine interest in improving public services through digital change. They’re naturally curious, keen to understand how services work, and motivated by the idea of making things simpler and more accessible for residents. Because local authority environments can be fast‑paced and complex, they approach their work with patience, flexibility, and a willingness to learn. They’re comfortable asking questions, seeking clarity, and stepping in to help wherever they can add value.
To thrive in this role the candidate will need to be highly organised, detail‑focused, and confident juggling multiple tasks at once. Strong communication skills are essential—they will need to be able to translate technical information into plain language, support workshops and user research, and keep stakeholders informed with clear, concise updates. They should also be comfortable working with digital tools, maintaining project documentation, tracking progress, and supporting testing and quality assurance activities. A good grasp of problem‑solving techniques and an analytical mindset will help to identify issues early and contribute to practical solutions.
The role is suited to someone collaborative, approachable, and committed to delivering high‑quality work. They will thrive in team environments where success depends on coordination and shared ownership, and they build positive relationships across services by being reliable and respectful. They bring enthusiasm to digital transformation, even when projects are challenging, and they’re motivated by the impact their work has on residents and frontline staff. Ultimately, they combine professionalism with a genuine desire to help the organisation move forward, making them a valued and trusted member of the team.
