About the apprenticeship
Duties
Attending and taking part in regular team meetings and regular reviews with line manager etc.
Providing excellent customer service when dealing with routine telephone and face to face enquiries with internal and external customers / clients of the service.
To work in a professional manner and portray a positive image of the Council in the workplace.
Preparing designs using specialist street lighting software and AutoCAD
Assist in carrying out detailed testing following new street lighting installations
Assist the Street Lighting team and maintenance contractor with fault finding on street.
Reporting street lighting faults and update the database to ensure all records and assets are kept up to date.
Liaising with RCTCBC staff, local Councillors and members of the public regarding street lighting queries and faults.
To participate in training necessary to meet the needs of the service.
Supports existing team of Street Lighting Engineers in development and managing projects and services in respect of the Authority’s Street Lighting service area.
To work as directed by the Street Lighting and Traffic Signals Manager.
Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Who We’re Looking For
The Street Lighting team are responsible for the maintenance of all the street lighting assets within the authority including design, construction and supervision of projects.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic individual. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be well organised and able to work in a team.
Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSE's at A-C grade including Maths and English or equivalent.
What Will You Study?
As part of this Apprenticeship, you will work towards Level 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering via a local college.
What will you be paid?
This is a fixed term post for a two-year period and will start in September 2024. You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependent on age:
•21 & over £11.44
•18 - 20 £8.60
•Under 18 £6.40

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, applications cannot be accepted from any applicant who has already gained a similar qualification at level 3 or above in the role applied for.
For example, if you have a degree in Civil Engineering you will not be eligible to apply for a Civil Engineering apprenticeship post. However, you could apply for any other apprenticeship post. Any such applications will not be considered.

Qualifications
