Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with a focus on Labour Ward Leadership and a special interest in simulation-based training. We seek candidates with proven expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, committed to patient safety, team performance, and advancing training methodologies.
The successful applicant will participate in a 1:14 on-call rota, lead Labour Ward management during designated hot weeks, and provide emergency gynaecology cover. Responsibilities include managing complex obstetric cases, leading multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining high standards of care in the delivery suite. The role also involves contributing to obstetrics and gynaecology clinics, theatres, and simulation-based teaching programs.

As Labour Ward Lead, the appointed consultant will oversee daily obstetric unit operations during hot weeks, delivering direct, consultant-led care with other duties temporarily suspended. Emergency gynaecology cover during these weeks will be provided by a separate consultant. The role includes developing and enhancing the simulation training program, designing multidisciplinary simulation sessions to improve clinical outcomes and team cohesion in high-risk scenarios.
This post offers 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with flexibility to develop additional roles through mutual agreement.

Qualifications
* Full GMC registration, MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration, CCT or equivalent (confirmation by GMC required by AAC date)
* Expecting to receive CCT within six months to be eligible for interview; others must be on the GMC Specialist Register
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within 6 months of AAC
* CCST or equivalent training in general obstetrics and gynecology
* RCOG ATSM or similar in Labour Ward
* Experience in Simulation or PROMPT training
* RCOG ATSM in General Gynecology (covering both obstetrics and gynecology)
Management (Desirable)
* Management and administration experience
* Relevant clinical leadership roles
Clinical Experience (Essential)
* CCST or equivalent in general obstetrics and gynecology
* RCOG ATSM in Labour Ward
* Experience in Simulation/PROMPT training
* RCOG ATSM in General Gynecology
