Job description
We are recruiting for a Legal Book-Keeper to join the team of our Client based in Ballymena on a permanent basis. You will be working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance function.
Hours of work: Part-time OR Fulltime (Must be available to work on a Friday)
Specific roles & responsibilities include:
1. Supervision and maintenance of firm's client, office and deposit bank accounts.
2. Reconciling bank statements.
3. Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments (Bacs/Cheques/Bank lodgements /Payments via card terminal).
4. Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone.
5. Keying electronic payments for approval by the Partners.
6. Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system.
7. Checking & posting bills & invoices.
8. Petty cash management
9. Preparation of cash-flow forecasts, Key Performance Indicators and specific daily/ month-end/ year-end financial reports
10. Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices
11. Aged- debt review and recovery.
12. Credit Card analysis and payments
13. Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
14. Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns.
Criteria:
15. Previous experience within a bookkeeping/ accounting- focused role is essential.
16. Competent on Microsoft Office packages particular Outlook, Word and Excel.
17. Excellent communication skills.
18. Ability to observe strict levels of confidentiality required to work in a legal practice.
19. Previous experience/knowledge of legal accounts software (such as Insight Legal) or working in finance within a legal setting is not essential but would be highly desirable.
Salary:
20. Salary negotiable depending on experience.
