Join Police Digital Service as a DevSecOps Lead. Starting salary £65,000 per annum
The DevSecOps Lead will lead a small team of engineers responsible for the delivery of cyber security capabilities and tooling to ensure the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, and availability is an integral part of applications and platforms delivered to UK policing.
The DevSecOps Lead will work across various stakeholder groups to ensure their requirements are understood, and will lead the team in delivering against those requirements, ensuring high-quality tooling is developed that bolsters the cyber security of critical national policing applications.
While this role is less "hands-on" development work, this role plays a critical part in ensuring that the DevSecOps Engineers are able to maximise throughput and stability.

Key Responsibilities
* Line Management responsibilities for DevSecOps Engineers
* Lead on the implementation of an effective software development and delivery process
* Work with stakeholders within PDS and externally to understand requirements and translate those requirements into deliverables for the team
* Prioritise deliverables effectively, enabling high throughput
* Drive continual improvement initiatives for deployed applications, tooling and platforms
* Ensure developed applications and platforms are aligned with Secure by Design and Secure Software Development Lifecycle principles, practices, and processes
* Ensure documentation is relevant, effective and up-to-date
* Drive a true ?DevSecOps' culture across the organisation
What you need to succeed in the role
* Demonstrable understanding and experience of secure application or platform development
* Experience and relevant certification in cloud services design and administration
* Experience of building and leading a diverse team and fostering effective cultures
* Initiative and the ability to produce quality work without close supervision
* Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to technical subjects
* Attention to detail and genuine passion for maintaining high quality software configurations
* Broad cyber security awareness and practical experience
* AWS / Azure experience and/or certifications
* Previous public sector experience.
* Experience working with APIs
* Experience working with Git-based repositories and CI/CD pipelines

Working Arrangements
You will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face-to-face team engagement and home working. Employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.
Please note that in Q3 of 2025, we will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 )and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
