Offer description

Join our Investigating Committee

We are seeking two osteopath members and one lay member to join our Investigating Committee (IC). This is a chance to play a key role in fair, evidence-based decision-making for a modern, inclusive healthcare regulator.

About the Investigating Committee

The IC considers concerns raised about osteopaths and decides whether there is a ‘case to answer’. It also has the power to impose interim suspensions where necessary.

Who we are looking for

We welcome applications from people who value fairness, independence and public protection. You will be able to weigh up complex evidence, exercise sound judgement, and appreciate both the importance of safeguarding the public and the contribution osteopaths make to healthcare.

At the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), we believe diversity strengthens our work. We encourage applications from the widest possible field of candidates across the UK and particularly welcome applications from people living or working in Northern Ireland, Scotland, or Wales.

Time commitment and remuneration

* Up to 15 days per year, depending on caseload

* Additional time for mandatory training, reading and annual reviews

* £340 daily fee

* Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses

* Appointments begin 1 April 2027 for up to four years

How to apply

If this would be your first non-executive or regulatory role, we warmly encourage you to apply.

You may wish to join our 1-hour webinar Q&A on 10 June at 6pm. You can find out more and sign up via our website.

Closing date: 11.30am, Tuesday 30 June 2026

The General Osteopathic Council is the UK-wide statutory body established by the Osteopaths Act 1993 to regulate and develop the osteopathic profession and ensure public protection.

The GOsC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1172749). We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity.
