An inclusive and well establsihed Special Needs primary school in Winchester is seeking two enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team. These roles are specifically for an ASD-focused Key Stage 2 class, and the successful candidates will be working closely with children with a range of special educational needs.
Role Overview: The LSAs will be responsible for supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their educational journey. The role will involve assisting the class teacher and other LSAs in delivering tailored learning experiences and helping students to engage with their lessons. The successful candidates will need to be proactive, providing both academic and emotional support to pupils, ensuring that they are fully included in all school activities. They will also work closely with other professionals and parents to develop effective strategies that support the students' learning needs.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing one-to-one and group support to children with ASD
* Assisting with the delivery of differentiated lessons and activities
* Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and positive manner
* Promoting inclusion and participation within the class
* Supporting the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Encouraging the development of social skills and independence
* Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children
