GE Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering - 12 Month Placement
In the 12-month Manufacturing Engineering Placement, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience covering all aspects of manufacturing engineering from production to Lean Six Sigma through research and development.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Manufacturing Engineering team - focus on technical aspects of manufacturing, including production processes, tooling design, and advanced technologies. You’ll work on real-world projects to improve efficiency, support new product introduction, and drive innovation. You could be involved in building Standard Operations Procedures and local processes improvements.
* Lean Manufacturing team - focus on continuous improvement initiatives, waste reduction, and process optimization. You’ll work closely with the Lean team to implement tools and methodologies that enhance operational efficiency into the business.
You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.
This Manufacturing Engineering team opportunity is offered in our Cheltenham, Cardiff, Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland) and Gloucester (Dowty, a GE Aerospace company) sites and Lean Manufacturing role at Cardiff and Gloucester (Dowty, a GE Aerospace company) sites. GE Aerospace Wales specializes in maintenance, repair and overhaul of a range of commercial jet engines, with a large facility in Nantgarw and capabilities including engine testing and Component Repair Wales.
GE Aerospace Caledonian is a purpose-built aircraft engine overhaul facility near Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, focused on MRO of CF6 & GEnx engines.
Dowty, a GE Aerospace company is based in Gloucestershire and is a leading supplier of composite propeller systems with programs including the Lockheed Martin C-130J, the De-Haviland Dash 8-400 and the Leonardo C-27J.
This placement role is an intended pipeline to our Operations Management Leadership Programme (OMLP) with graduate opportunities at the end of the placement year. To be eligible, you should aim for a 2:1 degree or above and plan to return to your final year of university.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Currently studying an Engineering related bachelor’s or integrated master’s degree (e.g., Manufacturing, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechanical Design, Materials Science & Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics, or General Engineering)
* On course to achieve a 2:1 degree or above
* Penultimate year of study and returning to education post placement
