ESNEFT is seeking an experienced Radiotherapy Physicist to provide leadership of the Radiotherapy Physics service at Colchester Hospital, under the overall responsibility of the Head of Service. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a new career challenge by moving up to Consultant level and further developing their leadership skills.
ESNEFT is one of the largest radiotherapy providers in the East of England, delivering services across Colchester and Ipswich hospital sites. Predominantly based in Colchester, you will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the service, managing a small, friendly team of clinical scientists, engineers and dosimetrists.
Colchester has recently completed a full equipment replacement programme and is equipped with multi-modality Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, Halcyon and Hypersight imaging. Treatment planning is undertaken on the Varian Eclipse system integrated with ARIA patient management system. The department has a dedicated CT scanner and access to MR for radiotherapy planning. Gynae brachytherapy is delivered on a HDR system and the department has an orthovoltage treatment unit.
Planned developments include Papillon contact brachytherapy and expansion of SABR treatments. ESNEFT participates in a wide range of clinical trials involving radiotherapy.
Qualifications
We are looking for a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist with Medical Physics Expert certification.
Responsibilities
* Provide scientific and technical expertise for Radiotherapy and Radiotherapy Physics.
* Be part of the Radiation Services senior leadership team, including close collaboration with the Ipswich site lead physicist, the wider multidisciplinary team and Head of Service to ensure a safe, high quality, consistent cross-site service, developing treatment techniques and coordinating research activity.
* Provide professional, operational and clinical leadership for the radiotherapy physics service at Colchester Hospital, line management, leadership and support to a team of clinical scientists, engineers and dosimetrists, promoting professional development.
* Act as Medical Physics Expert in radiotherapy in accordance with IR(ME)R.
* Contribute to the development of advanced techniques including SABR, adaptive radiotherapy and brachytherapy.
