About the School Environment This inclusive secondary provision in Ware supports students with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated communication challenges. As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping young people engage with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes. Key Responsibilities of an SEN Learning Support Assistant As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs. Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons and learning activities. Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour strategies, and social development. Help implement EHCP targets and individual support plans. Encourage independence, resilience, and positive engagement with learning. Support students during transitions, breaktimes, and structured interventions. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral staff. Maintain accurate records of student progress and wellbeing. Skills & Knowledge Required for an SEN Learning Support Assistant Understanding of SEN needs such as ASD, SEMH, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people. Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive education practices. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to support. Awareness of sensory strategies and differentiated learning approaches. Potential Qualifications / Experience Experience working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a similar support role. Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning (desirable). Degree in Psychology, Education, or related field (beneficial but not essential). Training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or safeguarding (advantageous). Experience supporting young people in secondary education settings. Why Join This Role in Ware?
