Singleton Day Surgery Unit are currently recruiting for band 5 scrub Practitioner.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic, committed individuals to join our energetic and vibrant Day surgery Theatre team.

As with all theatre environments, each day with us has its own demands as we have a variety of theatre activity on any given day so we are looking for individuals who are flexible, innovative, highly motivated with great people skills who wants to learn and develop within a challenging and exciting area of patient care. Continuing professional development is encouraged and you will be expected to promote and participate actively in education, research, clinical governance, audit and guidelines. You will be encouraged to take part in the wide range of educational and training opportunities within the health board.

If you are a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, with current UK professional registration relevant for the post then we'd love to hear from you. We would welcome applicants with Theatre experience or for those looking for a new challenge. Applicants who do not have previous theatre experience will undergo a full training and support programme to fully equip our staff with the skills they require.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. As when service demands, staff are required to work across all three hospital sites, within Swansea Bay University Health Board.

We are committed to developing your professional competence, and building your skills through learning and education to maximise your career prospects. We have supported educational programmes with the University of Wales, Swansea to support your continuing professional development.

Theatre documentation is recorded electronically, so IT skills are essential.

This post will involve caring for patients within the Day theatre department, who will undergo a range of surgical procedures from various specialities, and you will be expected to manage patients care throughout the perioperative stage.

You will be part of a driven team engaged in the challenges of an ever changing environment, and be expected to become an efficient and effective team member.

This is a physically and mentally demanding role, and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to thrive within a dynamic, fast paced service that puts patient care at the heart of what we do.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Skills

* Registered Nurse/ODP
* Evidence of Registration with NMC/HPC
* Relevant post basic course or equivalent experience


Experience

* Demonstrate an interest in Operating Department Practice/Nursing.
* Evidence of CPD/Development
* Value based application
* Understanding of the Role

£30,420 to £37,030 a yearper annum pro rata
