Healthcare Support Worker / Care Assistant

Pay Rate: £14.24 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Support Workers / Care Assistants to join our agency team, supporting individuals within nursing and residential care settings across Merthyr Tydfil.

Working under the guidance of registered healthcare professionals and in line with NHS Wales standards, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and respectful care delivery.
Role:
As a Healthcare Support Worker / Care Assistant, you will provide essential support with both personal care and basic clinical duties. You will be part of a wider multidisciplinary team working together to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
Key duties include assisting with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility support. You will also contribute to monitoring wellbeing, recording observations, and supporting care plans.

Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, continence care, feeding, and mobility support
- Support individuals with social engagement, emotional wellbeing, and independence
- Monitor, record, and report vital signs and any changes in condition
- Assist with medication administration where appropriately trained and authorised
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and care plan implementation
- Maintain accurate and timely care documentation
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Support safe manual handling and mobility transfers
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and maintain confidentiality
- Work collaboratively with nurses, senior carers, families, and external professionals
- Ensure all care is delivered in line with consent, dignity, and best practice standards
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development
Requirements:
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or working towards Level 3)
- At least 6 months UK-based care experience within the last 3 years
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- Willingness to undergo DBS and reference checks
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and care home guidelines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Important Requirements:
- Social Care Wales registration (or willingness to register) - costs not covered
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one at your own cost
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for shift reliability)
- Willingness to complete mandatory training, including manual handling and BLS (at own cost if required)
- Confirmation of any past safeguarding or conduct investigations where applicable
