We have an exciting Fixed Term Occupational Therapist position in our North Locality; New Horsefair Clinic, Wisbech. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team and help improve outcomes for children and young people. The post provides ongoing supervision, mentorship, and training under our preceptorship programme to support development within children’s services.
Our service combines health and social care with community-based delivery across clinics, local schools, family homes, and other community settings. Children seen will have a range of disabilities and developmental delays aged 0-19 years.
Responsibilities
* Provide an integrated Occupational Therapy service to children and young people and their families, across health and social care settings, liaising with Cambridgeshire County Council, schools, and multi-disciplinary teams.
* Manage your own caseload and, where appropriate, supervise Therapy Assistants and/or students.
* Develop and deliver individual occupational therapy programmes using evidence-based approaches (e.g., CO-OP, COPM, neurodevelopmental therapy, sensory integration therapy where strongest evidence applies).
* Deliver training and lectures to teachers, learning support staff, parents, carers, and other professionals as part of integrated service provision.
* Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of the CYP Occupational Therapy service, including acting as a key worker where appropriate.
* Work across a variety of settings (clinics, mainstream/special schools, clients’ homes, and community settings) and demonstrate appropriate physical requirements of the role.
* Delegate appropriately to therapy assistants while maintaining oversight of their input.
* Work autonomously with regular clinical and management supervision; comply with departmental and organisational policies.
* Engage in safeguarding, clinical governance, and information governance practices; maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
* Participate in research, audit, and evidence-based practice activities; contribute to service development and changes to practice as advised by senior colleagues.
* Contribute to internal and external communications strategies to promote CCS services.
Qualifications & Requirements
* HCPC registration (current) is mandatory for this role and must be maintained.
* Experience in paediatric occupational therapy, with ability to work across health and social care boundaries and collaborate with education settings and other agencies.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) and participation in appraisal processes; capacity to lead or contribute to CPD activities for others.
* Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, schools, social services, hospitals, and other professionals; ability to prepare concise written reports for statutory processes (e.g., Education, Health and Care Plans).
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance is required due to work with children.
