We are now looking for an Engine Builder to join our team! Role Purpose: To assemble, strip, clean and inspect high-performance racing engines, rigging systems, and component sub-assemblies and to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety standards, by conducting routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities. General Responsibilities & Tasks Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others by following health and safety procedures. Adhere to and promote good environmental practices. Use of standard and custom tooling to assemble sub-systems and complete powertrains for various top tier motorsport applications including the current Chevrolet IndyCar engine. Fault and failure investigation including powertrain / component disassembly and non-destructive / destructive testing. Use knowledge and experience to identify potential reliability critical issues. Ensure engine build documentation is followed and completed accurately and fully including BOM, torque sheet, dimensions / tolerances and technical drawings. Use of gauges / dial test indicators / micrometers / callipers / height gauge / air gauge / spring force-displacement equipment / slip gauges / etc. Tracking component usage and recording build measurements in proprietary database software. Confident in following designated build manual / assembly drawings and process led assembly of development and race engines. Careful cleaning, inspecting and preparation of engine components for further inspection and / or build. Rig assembly and running. Support on the job training of apprentices, trainees and new employees. Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate development, delivery and compliance Communicate and recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost Self-Management Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the company handbook, and all other Company policies and procedures Support encourages and develops team and proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere Anticipate and overcomes obstacles Make useful links to arrive at insightful plans and solutions Embrace personal challenge Confident, rounded thinking Take ownership for team cohesion Be self-aware Be resilient, optimistic and open to change Have an Adult: Adult, collaborative approach to others Skills & Attributes Open mindset to new ideas and be able to look inward as well as outward towards opportunities for improvement. Ability to use a calm and measured approach to the work. Natural problem solver. Hand tool and basic machine tool skills. Qualifications & Experience At least 3 years of relevant mechanical assembly experience A background in Aerospace / Automotive / Motorsport Manufacturing (ideal) Advanced modern apprenticeship (level 3) or equivalent. General Engineering BTEC (level 3) or equivalent.
