The Head of Engineering Capital Function will be an inspiring individual, able to provide direction and visionary leadership in a way that instils confidence in and commitment from others.
* Significant experience of leading and managing multi‑disciplinary technical teams and programmes both within a function and across functions.
* Leadership of people and teams through transformation and change.
* The ability to define the strategy of the Engineering sub‑function, while managing resources in a safe, secure, and cost‑efficient manner, and ensuring consistency with the AWE Strategic Plan.
* A proven track record in leading and driving cultural and process change successfully with demonstrable improvements in efficiency, delivery and operational effectiveness.
* Demonstrates financial awareness, management of budgets, and improvements.
* Management of engineering / technical/scientific programmes, projects, and activities.
* Previously held a people management role in a complex or large organisation, or has operated in a role that included accountability for the optimisation of the people resource within an organisation.
* Degree in scientific or engineering discipline, or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification.

The Engineering Capital (Sub) Function Head reports to the Engineering Function Director and is part of their senior leadership team (SLT) with a primary purpose of providing strategic leadership and management of around 800 professional engineers. Core to the role will be the leadership and management of the Engineering Capital Function; defining its top‑level strategy (resource/capability) and providing effective leadership, direction and guidance as the figurehead for senior managers within the capital function. An intrinsic element of the role will be the assurance of the technical capability of the division; delivering critical skills and resources aligned to business requirements now and in the future to deliver the mission and integrated technical programme. You will be able to easily assimilate information and develop an understanding of the Technical Programme and its deliverables, drivers and barriers.
