Switchboard Operator - Calderdale Royal Hospital
The Switchboard Operator plays a crucial role within the Switchboard Department at Calderdale Royal Hospital, a fast-paced, high-demand environment. The switchboard operates 24/7, ensuring effective communication both internally among hospital staff and externally with the general public.
In this role, you will be at the centre of hospital communications, supporting staff and the public by managing calls, coordinating requests, and responding to urgent situations with professionalism and efficiency.
As a relief operator, you will cover staff absences due to sickness or annual leave, which may include weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
The Role
1. Answer internal and external calls within agreed KPI and SLA standards.
2. Provide efficient, courteous, and helpful support to all callers.
3. Operate the internal bleep system.
4. Proactively maintain the computer database of hospital personnel, departments, and telephone numbers.
5. Log maintenance, portering, and cleaning requests.
6. Respond to critical alarms and emergency phone lines.
7. Undertake clerical duties as necessary to ensure smooth departmental operations.
8. Cover shifts on public and bank holidays as required, supporting our 24/7, 365-day service.
