A little more about your role The role sits within the Finance Business Partnering function reporting to the Discipline or Senior Finance Business Partner. Primary stakeholders include a defined set of operational leaders and managers such as Service Line Directors and Profit Centre Managers. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months. The role will support the WSP business to deliver profitable and sustainable growth. You will be responsible for providing dedicated financial planning and decision support aligned to strategic and customer priorities. The Finance Business Partner will work with a number of business centres to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and make recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain growth and quality of earnings. Core Accountabilities Remaining accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial records (including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow and forecasts) Ensuring variance between budgets, forecasts and actual results are anticipated in advance, and that the root causes are understood, clearly explained and necessary actions are implemented Identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and commercial risks and opportunities, supporting the business in balancing risk with return, and acting as a trusted point of contact for the business, transforming financial and non- financial information into insight Using insight to challenge and influence business decisions to improve financial performance of WSP projects and services Challenging and monitoring overall project income, cost to complete, working capital and change control, engaging in project reviews for prioritised projects Ensuring corporate financial governance and control is understood, adhered to, and communicated effectively to the business Driving and responding to change within and outside of the organisation Maintaining the WSP finance operating model What we will be looking for you to demonstrate Studying toward or Completion of a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), where studying towards completion is expected within 3 years Understanding of finance business partnering and experience supporting varied stakeholders Strong communication skills with confidence engaging stakeholders Ability to interpret and translate financial and non‑financial data into actionable insights Knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and core financial statements Ability to identify and mitigate financial and commercial risks and opportunities Experience collaborating with shared services teams Commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning Comfortable influencing decisions, challenging assumptions, and driving efficiency Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
