Assistant Manager – Up to 34k plus service charge – The Victoria Surbiton
We’re looking for a superstar Assistant Manager to join us for an exciting new chapter as we reopen our beautifully refurbished pub! We’re not just looking for someone to “keep the wheels turning” We want a hands-on leader who thrives on connecting with people, brings fresh ideas, and isn’t afraid to get stuck in. You’ll work closely with Matthew, our supportive GM, on everything from training and developing the team, to shaping new food & drink ideas, planning events, and getting creative with marketing. You’ll be people-focused and confident in being the manager on duty.
Where are we?
The Victoria is a beautiful Young’s pub right in the heart of Surbiton’s bustling High Street - a real locals’ local with bags of charm. With easy travel links from London and short skip away from Kingston we are perfectly placed.
Why now?
In August 2025 we’ll be undergoing a huge refurbishment. Think fresh interiors, a gorgeous new look, and a brand-new menu. We’re also giving our massive garden (the best in Surbiton!) a full makeover, making it an even bigger draw all year round. We’re planning a grand re-opening to show it all off, and we want an Assistant Manager who’s just as excited as we are to shape the next chapter of The Vic’s story. This is your chance to help lead a passionate team, put your stamp on the way we do things, and be a key part of a celebration the local community will be talking about.
What we do
We’re proud to serve the best seasonal British dishes (including our Guardian 5-star rated Sunday roast!) alongside specials inspired by our customers’ and team’s travels. We keep things fun with our famous Burger Shack, serving juicy patties, chicken wings, Louisiana hot sauces and spud nuggets, right next to our huge, much-loved garden oasis. Covered and cosy in winter, sunny and buzzing in summer, it’s a true gem in the middle of a bustling High Street and about to look better than ever.
From perfectly poured Young’s Original beer to a cracking wine list, our product knowledge is second to none, and we love passing that on to our guests.
