We are seeking to appoint a Student Support and Development Officer in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities. The Student Support and Wellbeing team are responsible for providing welfare and pastoral support as well as being responsible for the delivery of mitigating circumstances, and attendance and engagement monitoring, amongst other responsibilities within the school. The post holder will primarily be responsible for the Student Support and Wellbeing Team, and related processes and activities delivered by the team within the School of Social Sciences. You will have strong experience of supporting welfare, and a proven track record of delivering an excellent student or customer experience. You will have a demonstrable record of improving and developing services, ideally within a student-focused context. You will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and influence your team and others. You must also be able to demonstrate that you have an understanding of academic and pastoral support procedures and processes in relation to the provision of postgraduate taught and/or undergraduate education and have significant experience of providing pastoral support. Overall Purpose of the Job: To be responsible for comprehensive, effective and proactive management, working with a wide variety of stakeholders, in relation to student success and development, including activities in relation to learning and individual needs of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate taught (PGT) students To work with leaders in Professional Services (PS), to embed locally and University-wide a culture of excellent service provision and continuous improvement, placing the student experience at the heart of what we do, with support for a single PS team working flexibly across organisational boundaries To work with senior colleagues in the delivery of high quality, effective learning and individual needs of undergraduate and postgraduate taught students strategies and activities and enhancing the student experience.
