Job Opportunity: Application Engineer at BiSN
BiSN, an award-winning technology company specializing in bismuth-based downhole sealing solutions, is seeking an Application Engineer to join our Aberdeen-based team. Our proprietary wel-lok technology has revolutionized well barrier performance across P&A, Interventions, and Completions. This role is perfect for an engineer who enjoys combining design, testing, and problem-solving with operator engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate operator statements of requirement (SORs), well schematics, and completion diagrams to define application parameters.
* Develop tailored tool designs for sealing applications, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
* Use 3D CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) to produce design layouts, assembly drawings, and tool models.
* Perform engineering calculations and feasibility assessments for field deployment.
* Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure design solutions meet field needs.
* Support the build and execution of test plans, including hands-on participation in assemblies and evaluations.
* Contribute to technical proposals, case studies, and customer presentations.
* Assist in the continuous improvement of standard and custom product lines.
Candidate Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* At least 3 years of engineering experience in oilfield tool design, completions, or intervention systems.
* CAD design experience, with SolidWorks preferred.
* Ability to interpret well schematics, field data, and component drawings.
* Knowledge of heat transfer, materials behavior, or pressure control systems is advantageous.
* Hands-on approach to engineering, including prototyping and testing.
* Strong communication skills for technical presentations to non-specialists.
* Based in Aberdeen; occasional travel to other facilities or test sites may be required.
