We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity within Resident and Business Support Service for a motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Revenues and Benefits Technical Support Officer.
The Revenues and Benefits service plays a crucial role in supporting the Council through the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates, and the assessment and payment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
As part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and in line with the Council’s values, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of technical and complex tasks, including:
* Appropriately responding to Complaints. Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information Requests and Councillor enquiries.
* Handling appeals and representing the Council at tribunals.
* Attending Court and progressing enforcement actions such as bankruptcy, winding-up, and charging orders.
This is a highly technical role, ideally suited to someone with in-depth knowledge within Council Tax, Welfare and Business Rates legislation and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Delivering training and developing structured training plans for Revenues and Benefits staff, including a comprehensive induction programme for new starters.
* Providing expert technical support to the Quality Assurance Programme.
* Identifying and implementing service improvements and innovative ways of working to enhance efficiency and reduce delivery costs.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience working within a Revenues and Benefits service.
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and contribute to service development.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
