We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Domestic Assistant to join our Domestic Services team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for delivering high standards of cleanliness across wards and departments, working both independently and as part of a team. Main duties of the job Provide efficient and effective cleaning services across hospital areas. Maintain hygiene standards in line with Trust policies, including Infection Control and COSHH. Replenish supplies such as soap, hand towels, and toilet rolls. Safely dispose of waste in accordance with the Waste Policy. Operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, buffing machines, and steamers. Support deep cleaning programmes and curtain changes. Ensure patient areas are clean, tidy, and clutter-free. Respond promptly to spillages, including bodily fluids. Attend mandatory training and adhere to Health & Safety regulations. Job description and main responsibilities As a Domestic Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the hospital environment is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Your responsibilities will include: Dusting, mopping, and sanitising surfaces including floors, walls, fixtures, and sanitary fittings. Cleaning isolation and barrier nursing areas in line with Infection Control Policy. Correct storage and maintenance of cleaning equipment and materials. Spot cleaning and spill management, including bodily fluids. Cleaning general and specialist equipment as per policy. Report faults and incidents to supervisors or the Estates help-line. Secure keys and ensure areas are locked after cleaning. Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and privacy at all times. Follow Trust procedures for sickness, absence, and hand hygiene. Participate in appraisals and personal development.
