Test & Finishing Technician Norwich An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test & Finishing Technician to join Galliford Try’s Lintott Control Systems team within our Environment division. You’ll contribute to delivering approximately £10m of projects each year across multiple Water Industry Frameworks and non-water clients throughout the United Kingdom. Reporting to the Test Manager, you will play a key role in: Inspecting and testing factory-built Chemical Dosing Systems, Motor Control Centres, Switchboards and Control Panels to ensure compliance with product standards and quality requirements. Carrying out electrical, process and functional testing to confirm that manufactured products operate in line with design specifications and within agreed timescales. What you’ll be doing: Working collaboratively with, and under the guidance of, Test & Finishing Technicians (Approved Electricians) to learn and develop knowledge of product and electrical installation inspection and testing. Performing quality inspections on manufactured products and purchased goods. Conducting electrical inspection, testing and certification of factory-built assemblies. Completing factory-based functional and process testing in accordance with company procedures. Compiling accurate test documentation and reports. Following agreed Lintott Control Systems procedures and documentation formats. Liaising with relevant stakeholders throughout and upon completion of testing activities. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments, ensuring quality issues are captured for future improvement. Supporting internal process development, including identifying and eliminating waste and non–value-added activities. Helping maintain and improve procedures, systems and manual/electronic filing processes. Carrying out any other duties agreed with management. About you: Essential Experience in utility industries or sectors such as Food, FMCG, or Materials Handling. Relevant experience in manufacturing and installation relating to MCCs (DOL, ASD, Soft Start & VSD), Switchgear, Control Panels, LV Distribution/Electrical Installations or Chemical Dosing Systems. Working knowledge of, or qualification to, the 18th Edition BS 7671 wiring regulations. Experience working effectively as part of a team. Proficient IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Desirable Experience within the Water & Wastewater sector. Experience in Industrial Automation. Confidence interfacing directly with customers. Ability to write technical reports. Commercial awareness. Level 3 NVQ qualification in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline. Level 3 Test & Inspection qualification (e.g. C&G 2391). Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018. Professional Registration with the IET (EngTech or above).
