Business Development Manager (Field-Based) Salary: £50,000 Company Car or Car allowance (OTE £85-90K) Location: Remote / Field-based (UK) HQ: Buckinghamshire Sector: Manufacturing - Plastics / Aluminium Extrusion The Role Our client is looking for an experienced Field-Based Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across the UK. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities while building long-term relationships with customers across a range of manufacturing-led sectors. This is a hands-on, autonomous role, ideal for a commercially driven BDM who enjoys being out in the field, meeting customers, and taking ownership of the full sales cycle. You'll be joining an extremely friendly, approachable, and supportive sales team, where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are central to how the business operates. Key Responsibilities Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities through field-based activity, networking, referrals, and targeted prospecting Manage the full sales cycle, from initial contact and needs discovery through to quotation, negotiation, and contract close Build strong, long-term relationships with customers, acting as a trusted commercial partner Work closely with internal technical, production, and operations teams to understand capabilities and propose effective, tailored solutions Attend face-to-face meetings, site visits, and industry events as required Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and consistently work towards agreed revenue targets Accurately record and manage sales activity, pipeline, and forecasting using the CRM system (e.g. HubSpot or Salesforce ) Keep up to date with market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to inform sales strategy Provide regular updates and reports to the Sales Director on progress, opportunities, and challenges Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Business Development Manager or similar field-based B2B sales role Strong preference for experience within plastics extrusion, aluminium extrusion, or a related manufacturing environment Demonstrable success in winning new business and managing complex, consultative sales processes Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role, with strong organisation and time-management skills Confident engaging with stakeholders at different levels, from technical contacts to senior decision-makers Experience using a CRM system such as HubSpot or Salesforce to manage pipeline and sales activity Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Full UK driving licence What's on Offer £50,000 basic salary plus package Remote, field-based role with flexibility and autonomy Supportive, down-to-earth sales leadership and team culture Opportunity to make a visible impact within a growing, well-established business
