Within the @one Alliance, we are a collaborative organization comprising eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain. We deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are preparing for AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period yet, involving a larger project portfolio with a focus on nature-based solutions such as wetlands and sustainable urban drainage schemes.

We are seeking a Design Manager for our Place Based Thinking catchment team, overseeing projects over £20m.
What will you do as our new Design Manager?
Lead design and delivery of innovative, sustainable solutions that reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency. Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement these solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Management: Oversee design teams, control scope, costs, risks, and resources. Collaborate with discipline leads and BIM managers to ensure quality. Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to meet safety, environmental, and operational standards.
2. Project Delivery: Partner with internal functions and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. Manage risks proactively and support value optimization.
3. Health & Safety: Fulfill Principal Designer duties per CDM regulations, oversee competency assessments, and ensure thorough risk assessments and safety documentation.
4. People & Team Development: Lead a multidisciplinary team, focus on performance, development, diversity, and inclusion. Strategically allocate resources and support recruitment.
5. Transformation & Innovation: Lead digital transformation and sustainability initiatives. Drive innovation in carbon reduction, 3D modelling, and design standardization.
Your skills, experience, and behaviours:
An engineering or equivalent degree is preferred, but experience in the water sector and wastewater asset design is more important. You should have proven leadership, stakeholder collaboration skills, and a commitment to sustainability and safety compliance. Ability to inspire teams, operate with integrity, and build stakeholder trust is essential. A strong understanding of CDM regulations and safety throughout the project lifecycle is required.
