Overview
We are offering an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS COAST (Crisis and Home Treatment) Service, part of Sussex CAMHS Acute Services. This is a permanent post within a newly commissioned and expanding team, providing specialist support to young people aged 12–18 who can be safely treated in the community as an alternative to inpatient admission or supported discharge from hospital. As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide senior clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team, working alongside experienced colleagues to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. You will play an integral role in the continued design and development of this innovative model of service delivery within the Sussex CAMHS acute care pathway.

Hours: Full time – 10 sessions per week (part-time and flexible working also considered)

What you’ll bring
We are seeking a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist with broad clinical experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, ideally with an interest in crisis or acute care. You will bring excellent clinical judgement, leadership and communication skills, with a commitment to evidence-based, person-centred practice and service improvement.
What you’ll do
* Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric expertise within the CAMHS COAST service
* Undertake comprehensive assessments, formulations and management plans
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement across the CAMHS acute pathway
* Provide supervision, teaching and consultation to multidisciplinary colleagues
* Participate in the Trust-wide CAMHS Consultant network and on-call rota
Recruitment and benefits
This post attracts an enhanced Recruitment and Retention Payment of £45,000, paid in instalments over four years:
* £5,000 on appointment
* £5,000 at 12 months
* £6,500 at 30 months
* £8,500 at 48 months
Relocation support of up to £8,000 is also available (subject to policy).
