Medical Director - MH, LD & CYP

This part‑time, permanent position (6 PAs per week) offers a salary range of £61,542 to £145,478 a year pro rata.
As a senior clinician, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for mental health, learning disabilities and children & young people services, working closely with the chief medical officer and the medical leadership team.
Key responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for recruitment and development of senior medical colleagues within the directorate.
* Respond to fitness‑to‑practice concerns and liaise with the responsible officer to follow policy.
* Ensure all medical colleagues have annual appraisals, and that training and development needs are identified and met.
* Maintain systems for appropriate clinical supervision.
* Collaborate with clinical leaders and service directors to ensure adequate staffing, including emergency and out‑of‑hours cover.
* Develop, review and ensure arrangements for cover for annual and study leave.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* General medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and licence to practise.
* Full professional registration and in good standing with the GMC.
* Higher degree or qualification in management, leadership or quality improvement.
Knowledge & Experience
* Senior clinical leadership experience with performance management.
* Knowledge of strategy development and implementation.
* Experience leading initiatives/projects within teams.
* Reporting performance at sub‑board groups or other committees.
* Experience delivering in a large and complex organisation.
* Ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
* Understanding of the commissioning environment, national standards and NHS policy.
* Service improvement, quality improvement and innovation methodologies.
* Knowledge of legislation and policy relating to physical and mental health.
* Senior management of medical professionals.
