Job Title: Adults Forensic Social Worker
Location: Manchester City Council
Salary: £36,124 - £38,626 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Manchester City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Forensic Social Worker to join our Adults Social Care Team. This role involves working within forensic mental health and criminal justice settings, supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes while managing risks and promoting public safety.
You will collaborate with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, probation services, and the police, to ensure individuals receive appropriate support for rehabilitation, recovery, and reintegration into the community where suitable.
Responsibilities
* Conduct complex assessments of individuals in forensic settings, identifying risks, needs, and support requirements.
* Develop and implement care plans aligned with legislation, emphasizing person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
* Collaborate with mental health services, probation, courts, and other agencies to manage risks and facilitate rehabilitation.
* Provide expert advice and support to professionals working with individuals with forensic backgrounds or criminal justice orders.
* Prepare and present reports for Mental Health Tribunals, MAPPA, and court proceedings.
* Advocate for service users, ensuring their rights and needs are recognized while balancing public safety.
* Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legal and professional standards.
Requirements
* Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience in forensic, mental health, or criminal justice settings.
* Strong risk assessment, report writing, and communication skills.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, MAPPA, and safeguarding frameworks.
* Ability to work independently and within a multi-agency team, promoting collaborative risk management.
