Temporary Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
2 days (12.5) hours per week / 39 weeks per year

Salary Range: Grade 6, SCP 17-22 £9,054 - £9,836
To start: 1st September 2026, providing the relevant checks are complete.
Temporary until 31st August 2027.
The Governors of Rhos Primary School wish to appoint a responsible, reliable person for the post of Teaching Assistant. The post will require the successful applicant to plan and deliver to classes across the school. We are particularly interested in candidates who can plan and deliver high quality PE across the school, promoting active and healthy lifestyles for all pupils.
The successful candidate will:
1. Demonstrate the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities in line with the Teaching Assistant Standards in Wales.
2. Support pupils’ learning effectively, including individuals, small groups and whole classes.
3. Promote inclusive practice, ensuring all learners are engaged, supported and challenged.
4. Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment.
5. Use effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils’ wellbeing and engagement.
6. Reflect on their own practice and contribute to continuous professional development.
7. Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community.
8. Attend and contribute to weekly after school staff meetings (ADDS)
9. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
We are looking for someone who:
10. Has relevant qualifications and/or experience in a school setting.
11. Has the skills and confidence to lead and develop PE provision across the school.
12. Is organised, flexible and proactive.
13. Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
14. Is committed to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
15. Must be qualified to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a related childcare discipline.
