You will contribute to teaching in areas related to health psychology, applying a diverse range of approaches and methods to engage learners within a research‑led environment. Depending on your expertise, your teaching may extend to applied psychology, psychology with cognitive neuroscience, research methods, and future integrative degree programmes jointly delivered with the School of Biological Sciences. You will also support the wider academic life of the School through programme development, student support, supervision and participation in school and college activities. You will develop a research programme aligned with the priorities of the Health and Wellbeing (with Ageing) research group and broader health‑related research in the College of Life Sciences. You will pursue external research funding, produce internationally recognised and potentially world‑leading research outputs, and contribute to increasing the School’s research visibility locally, nationally and internationally. You will work collaboratively to foster research partnerships, communicate your findings to varied audiences and support the University’s commitment to open science. As an active and collegial member of the University community, you will participate in committees, events and wider initiatives that help strengthen the School’s reputation and contribute to its strategic goals. About you You will hold a PhD in Psychology or a cognate discipline and bring a strong and developing research profile aligned with Health and Wellbeing (with Ageing). You will demonstrate evidence of high‑quality research outputs, the potential to secure external research funding, and a commitment to producing work that aspires to world‑leading standards. You will also bring proficiency in written and spoken English, effective communication skills and a readiness to engage with open science practices. Fellowship of the HEA or a willingness to gain it within twelve months of appointment is expected, reflecting your commitment to excellent teaching and academic professionalism. You will be an enthusiastic educator who can contribute confidently to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, delivering lectures, seminars, supervision and academic support within a collaborative teaching environment. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, building positive working relationships and contributing to the development of programmes and curriculum design. You will be motivated to help students succeed, able to plan and organise your work effectively, and ready to engage with the wider academic community through research collaboration, committee participation and University citizenship. Your approach will reflect the University’s values of inclusivity, inspiration and impact, helping to create a positive and supportive environment for staff and students.
