We are inviting applications from suitable candidates for a permanent 15 hour contract in the role of Library Assistant.
15 hours per week over a minimum of three days. Hours to be agreed with the Principal Librarian: Reading and Learning.
This role supports the work of the Library Engagement and Development Team based at Hawkes Point, Warwick.
The post-holder will be an integral part of the team, ensuring positive experience for customers of all ages and maintaining excellent working relationships with all partners.
This position involves the general day-to-day operation of the Book Trust gifting programmes which distributes free book packs to babies and pre-school children in Warwickshire via registration services and early years settings.
The role is predominantly based in the office but there will be occasional opportunities to be involved with library outreach.
The post would be suited for someone who enjoys being part of a team but is able to work independently, who is well organised, attentive to detail and able to work to deadlines
A certain amount of manual handling is involved when taking in and managing deliveries.
Key Requirements:
1. 4 GCSE passes, grade C or above or equivalent, to include English and Maths
2. Experience of working with members of the public in a customer service environment
3. A systematic, methodical and accurate approach to work
4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing and on the telephone to a range of people.
5. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
6. Ability to share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with customers of all ages
7. Ability and willingness to deliver promotional activities with customers of all ages
8. Experience of using ICT and Windows based computer packages
9. Ability to work effectively within a team and with staff at all levels
10. Ability to work with some initiative and little close supervision
11. Ability to move and handle library resources with/without aid
