Overview
Payroll Specialist — Location: York
Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end payroll processing and act as liaison with the external payroll provider
* Ensure compliance with payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, statutory payments, holiday pay, etc.)
* Administer maternity, sick pay, and other leave entitlements
* Maintain payroll systems, including upgrades, testing, and data accuracy
* Conduct audits, reconciliations, and implement pay awards and contractual changes
* Manage pension administration, including auto-enrolment and contributions
* Provide expert advice to staff and managers on payroll and pensions
* Support HR systems, reporting, and data analysis
* Assist wider People Services activities, including recruitment and employee records
About you
* Proven payroll experience with strong legislative knowledge
* High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
* Experience with HR/payroll systems
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Able to handle confidential information with integrity
