Global sector leading client carrying out a significant site upgrade and expansion now looking for a QS with manufacturing site expertise to carry out the following responsibilities.
Involved within their industrial plant improvement projects, role applies expertise in cost management and financial control to ensure the projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.The role is crucial for maximizing the return on investment (ROI) and minimizing financial risks associated with upgrades and efficiency enhancements.
Key responsibilities of a quantity surveyor in this plant improvement include:
* Feasibility Studies and Cost Planning:Conducting initial assessments to determine the financial viability of proposed plant upgrades (e.g., new machinery, process optimization, energy efficiency measures). This involves preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and timeframes.
* Budget Management and Cost Control:Developing comprehensive budgets and monitoring ongoing expenditure against these plans. Implement cost control measures to prevent overruns, track costs in real-time, and provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.
* Procurement and Tendering:Advising on procurement strategies, preparing tender documents (including bills of quantities specific to plant components or civil works), evaluating bids from contractors and suppliers, and negotiating NEC 4 contracts to secure the best value for money.
* Value Engineering and Efficiency:Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost savings without compromising the quality, functionality, or operational efficiency of the plant. This might involve suggesting alternative materials, construction methods, or equipment that offer better whole-life cycle costs.
* Risk Management:Identifying potential financial and contractual risks (e.g., material price fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, design changes) and developing mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the project budget and timeline.
* Contract Administration:Administering the project contracts, managing variations or changes in the scope of work, and handling any claims or disputes that may arise between the client, contractors, and subcontractors.
* Valuations and Final Accounts:Valuing the work completed at various stages to facilitate interim payments to contractors and ultimately preparing and settling the final accounts upon project completion.
* Sustainability and Compliance:Ensuring that improvements align with relevant building regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainability goals. This can involve advising on the cost implications of using energy-efficient solutions or managing waste reduction efforts.
Immediate requirement, duration ongoing, role is inside IR35 some hybrid working accommodated.
