The role

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join our dynamic and forward‑thinking Imaging Directorate within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Hospitals. We are recruiting rotational Band 6 Radiographers to the Clyde Sector. Modality rotation includes Plain Film, Mobiles, CT, Fluoroscopy and Theatre, at the Royal Alexandria Hospital and the spoke site will be Inverclyde Royal Hospital or Vale of Leven Hospital. We welcome applications from new, experienced Radiographers. The sector operates a cross‑site rotational model enabling staff to develop a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills across scheduled and unscheduled care i.e. Accident & Emergency, GP referrals, inpatients, outpatients and elective and emergency theatre imaging.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

* This post will include extended working days in MRI and CT at both Royal Alexandra and Inverclyde Royal Hospitals. Experience in MRI is desired, but training will be provided
* Shift pattern to be confirmed


Key responsibilities

* Deliver a safe, high quality radiographic service across a range of clinical areas including A&E inpatients outpatients theatres mobiles and specialist modalities where trained
* Justify and authorise radiographic examinations in line with IR(ME)R regulations ensuring minimal radiation exposure and optimal diagnostic outcomes
* Work autonomously including during out of hours periods taking responsibility for service delivery and prioritisation of workload
* Provide leadership and supervision to Radiographers students and support staff ensuring continuity and quality of care
* Adapt imaging techniques to meet the physical emotional and clinical needs of a diverse patient group from paediatric to geriatric
* Actively contribute to clinical governance quality assurance audit and service improvement initiatives
* Communicate effectively with patients carers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support timely and effective patient care


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

* DCR or BSc Honours in Diagnostic Radiography with current HCPC registration
* Significant post registration clinical experience within a busy diagnostic imaging environment
* Proven ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in complex and unpredictable situations
* Evidence of ongoing CPD with a commitment to professional development and service improvement
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients colleagues and students
* Experience or willingness to train in specialist modalities such as CT MRI angiography or mammography
* Flexible approach to working patterns including nights weekends and extended shifts to meet service needs
