Applications are invited from nurses with extensive experience of working at band 6 level or above within Clinical Research, to develop their skills further as a Band 7 team leader, by joining an established research delivery team.
You will have responsibility of leading a team of Research Nurses for the management, co-ordination and conduct of a portfolio of clinical research projects within the CRF, based at Royal Hallamshire or Northern General Hospital. You will ensure the research practice meets the requirements of all applicable legislation and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Main duties of the job
1. You will possess excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to demonstrate that you have experience of caring for patients within the specialty of clinical research.
2. You will also need to demonstrate your understanding of the research process, the importance of robust recruitment strategies and have knowledge of GCP and research legislation.
3. You will demonstrate an ability to lead a research team – to motivate and encourage staff development and support all aspects of the research portfolio.
4. You will work closely with clinical colleagues, to facilitate smooth and integrated patient pathways between clinical and research activity, therefore a willingness to work flexibly in a range of care settings is required.
5. You will work as part of an experienced team of dedicated Research delivery staff including: Research Nurses, Clinical Trial Assistants, Data Coordinators and Research Coordinators, to provide a comprehensive and efficient clinical research delivery workforce.
6. You should also possess a clear overview strategically and operationally for the development of research programmes.
7. You will be responsible for developing and sustaining your own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with the NMC Code.
8. As part of the co-ordination responsibilities you will be expected to represent the CRF at national and international meetings, with particular emphasis on CRF study development.

9. Registered General Nurse - Adult with valid NMC registration.
10. Recognised teaching qualifications or equivalent demonstrable teaching and assessing experience.
11. Extensive evidence of continuous professional development Including post graduate qualifications and/ or academic research qualifications
12. Up to date Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
13. First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
14. Possess or be working towards an MSc in Clinical Research or health/biological related subject. Or demonstrable significant experience working at an equivalent senior level.

16. Extensive experience at Junior Sister/Charge Nurse or above in broad range of clinical settings including clinical research environment or demonstrable equivalent
17. Experience of managing multiple competing projects to time and target, within research or other relevant field

19. Experience of managing and delivering high quality patient care, promoting continuous improvements to service delivery
20. Strong IT skills competent in standard PC packages (i.e. Microsoft Office or equivalent) using both desktop packages and databases.

23. Good understanding of the local and national strategic context of research in the NHS.

30. Persuasion and influencing skills – ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
