The role:
Identifying when you need a specialists help is really important, and that’s exactly what this SME has done. Having grown through acquisition of businesses over the last 5 years they recognise that whilst each business within the group needs to keep its own individual identity, there needs to be some marketing strategy put into place, so they’re looking to hire their very first Marketing Manager.
The role will be all encompassing, but your first role will be to define the marketing communications strategy and set a baseline – whether that be for the websites, literature or social media channels and then to implement it. Social media is an area where they really feel they need to improve and whilst this is mainly focussed on Linkedin due to the nature of their businesses that may take up some of your time initially. But, you’ll also be involved with developing case studies, website management, event management, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with trade press.
You’ll be the go-to-person for all things marketing, and whilst you’ll report into the Group MD directly, you’ll liaise with key stakeholders at a senior level across all the businesses, travelling to sites across the UK and on occasion, to the USA. The group employs around 100 people in total across all of the businesses.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a hands-on marketing manager – someone is happy to devise the strategy but also to implement it. You will be the sole marketer until you can demonstrate the requirement for additional team members (something which the company is very positive about), so it’s really important that you’re a 360 marketer with knowledge of offline and digital marketing techniques, as well as having some experience of PR.
You must have worked within a b2b environment and experience within engineering or manufacturing would be a significant advantage. You’ll be familiar with managing multi-channel campaigns, including social media – with a real emphasis on social media, and you’ll also have experience of CRM solutions and an understanding of SEO. You’ll manage your own workload and the budget for marketing, so prior experience of this is also necessary.
What’s on Offer?
There’s lots of opportunity to grow within this business, and you’ve got a really receptive ear in the Group MD who is happy to run with most ideas (with supporting evidence, obviously) and their philosophy is one of growth. They’re a friendly bunch, and whilst we would expect you to be based in the office 4 days per week during your probation period, this may decrease to 3 days afterwards. Salary is between £35-43,000, and this really will depend on your level of experience and relevance for the role. They’d like to interview w/c6th October, so if this is a role which appeals to you, please don’t delay in sending your CV over.
