Exciting Opportunity for a Legal Counsel
The role is responsible for providing in‑house legal advice on operational practices and procedures across multiple countries within the EMEA region. Serving a large and diverse internal client base, the position requires the ability to communicate the company’s legal position clearly and concisely to both internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring minimal business risk and exposure. Whilst the role will be a stand‑alone position, there will be a level of work with other Legal Counsel in the EMEA region. As the company’s legal department is headquartered in Montreal, this role will involve regular interaction and coordination with that team. In addition, the position will provide advice on a wide range of legal matters, including employment law and company secretarial issues.

Responsibilities
 * As required draft, review and update agreements and appendices / supplemental agreements made with/by customers, including (but not limited to) Frame Agreements, Terms of Business, Bonded Inventory Management agreements, Consignment Agreements and other business contracts.
 * Review Customer Purchase Agreements and ensure that the terms therein are manageable and favourable and thereby pose minimal risk of business exposure.
 * Review supplier agreements for general compliance in line with customer transactions (and vice versa) with particular emphasis on warranty, indemnification provisions or defective product and patent infringement, late delivery and termination provisions.
 * Provide legal advice on liability and warranty terms relating to defective product / quality claims and maintaining a presence at the Quality Assurance meetings as necessary.
 * Review any incoming Non‑Disclosure Agreements and make suggested changes whilst considering other sales terms and condition queries.
 * Undertake the review of office lease agreements for various Future sites within the area of responsibility.
 * Gain a clear understanding of the export and import control laws and regulation applicable for trading operations in the UK, EU and US, ensuring that current processes are compliant with customs, duties, licensing, and trade regulations.
 * Provide necessary legal advice on trade compliance consulting the trade compliance team in EMEA and Montreal, as required.
 * Responsible for GDPR Compliance and continued implementation.
 * Regularly undertake drafting of documents on a wide range of different topics relating to commercial or employment issues.
 * Assist in the defence and protection of the Company trademarks and generally help to develop and enforce the company’s IP policy.
 * Work with other legal counsels within the Company based within EMEA and Montréal to use the knowledge and where possible to provide grounds of commonality.
 * Review insurance policy arrangements for employees, commercial terms (product recall), property, transportation etc. that are applicable for the UK.
Qualifications
 * Qualified lawyer with a law degree or equivalent professional qualification having held post‑qualification experience in a commercial legal role within private practise or in‑house.
 * Fluent in English both orally and in writing with working knowledge of German an advantage.
 * Commercially astute, highly organised and initiative‑taking able to focus on resolving issues efficiently.
 * Focused on solving problems.
 * Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities while maintaining responsiveness and accuracy.
 * Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with both internal and external stakeholders.
