The Role
We have exciting opportunities within Network Rail High Speed for Telecoms & Signalling Control System Engineers. The Telecoms & Signalling Control Systems (TCS) team are highly skilled system specialists who maintain Operational Telecom & Signalling Control Systems on NRHS. They respond 24/7 to service-affecting faults to keep the railway safe and reliable.
The TCS team maintains systems including: VCS, EMMIS, RCCS, ITCS, DTN, LAN, GSM-R, Fibre network (FON), SCADA, RF propagation, LME, VTS. They manage equipment such as PLCs, switches, and SCADA monitoring equipment.
Responsibilities
* Assist with investigations into safety, system and infrastructure-related failures, supporting the Signaling & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer and the Assistant Signaling & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer.
* Review system failures to ensure data is complete and actions are closed in accordance with NRHS standards.
* Review system asset data for maintenance and faulting activities; make recommendations to address anomalies.
* Support the maintenance delivery team in the event of a wrong-side failure, as directed.
* Monitor system performance and reliability.
* Carry out system maintenance, preventative and corrective actions in line with NRHS standards and manufacturer guidelines.
* Assist in the development and delivery of system improvements and support key projects.
* Contribute to personal development and that of others.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures.
* Prepare specifications and requisitions for materials.
* Manage preparation of work and resource specifications, method statements and plans.
* Provide technical support and guidance.
* Manage processes and systems for calibration and certification of tools and equipment.

Requirements
The Person
Do you answer Yes to the following questions?
* At least 2 years of experience in a technical environment with fault finding.
* HNC/HND qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance processes and techniques.
* Knowledge of safety and compliance processes.
* Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures.
* Knowledge of the operational railway environment.
* Competencies relevant to this post as required by the business need.
* Failure/incident management and rectification techniques.
* Knowledge of other functional disciplines.
* Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organizational skills; able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; able to coach, influence and develop others.
Desirable
* Incorporated Engineer (IEng) qualification.
* Membership of a professional body.
* Project management qualification and experience.
While not essential, it would be helpful to hold IEng status and a professional body membership, and to have project management experience or qualifications.
