Beattock Nursery is seeking an Early Years Support Assistant. You will be required to work 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The work pattern will be discussed at the interview. This post is fixed term for 1 year and may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying.
Beattock Nursery caters for children aged 2/3-5 years old. We aim to provide an enriching, nurturing environment both indoors and outdoors to promote children's independence and curiosity.
Applicants should be educated to SCQF level 6 in Social Services, Children & Young People or equivalent. We seek someone adaptable to meet the educational and social needs of nursery pupils and who will actively contribute to our staff team. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional skills, knowledge, and understanding. Participation in curriculum development and adherence to school policies on learning, including pupil assessment, are required. Collaboration with staff, colleagues in other establishments, agencies, and regular consultation with parents and carers are essential.
Applicants must hold a relevant qualification enabling registration with The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Support Worker in Day Care Children's Services (without conditions). The acceptable qualifications list can be found here: SSSC Qualifications List.
Successful applicants will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months.
Our nursery settings may operate between 8.00am and 6.00pm, and working patterns will meet service needs.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG update check before employment is confirmed.
If residing outside the UK within the last 5 years, candidates will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence.
