Regional Public Relations Officer & Clerk to Governors
Job Ref No: ECC2163-168S, Position Type: Administration, Pay Range: £20,176 per annum, Position Start Date: 01/07/2026, Contract Type: Part‑time, Contract Term: Permanent, Application Close: 22/06/2026 Midday.
Based at Hylands School, Chelmsford, Essex. Working in the region's primary schools with hybrid working options and travel required to sites below:
* Heybridge Primary School, CM9 4TU
* Maldon Primary School, CM9 5DQ
* Stapleford Abbotts Primary Academy, RM4 1EJ
* Willow Brook Primary School and Nursery, CO4 0DT
Role: Part‑time 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am–3.30pm, with flexibility for late afternoon meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations, Marketing & Communications
* Brand Gatekeeper: Ensure all public‑facing documents and communications adhere to academy brand standards.
* Strategy & Delivery: Map and execute the academies' marketing strategy across the year, including events, admissions and open days.
* Digital Leadership: Manage social media platforms, promote news and events, and maintain statutory website compliance.
* Community Cohesion: Collaborate with local communities to increase cohesion.
* Fundraising: Work with the Director of Opportunity and SLT to identify funding sources and submit bids.
* Lettings Management: Oversee lettings at each academy as day‑to‑day contact.
Governance and Clerking
* Advisory Guidance: Advise the Local Governing Body on core functions, regulatory framework, governance legislation and procedural matters before, during and after meetings.
* Meeting Administration: Prepare agendas, liaise for papers, ensure quorate meetings and draft accurate minutes.
* Compliance: Ensure statutory policies are in place, update GIAS websites and maintain records of governors.
* Membership: Advise on expiry of governors' terms and maintain up‑to‑date records of governors' interests and training.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Strong experience in communications, copywriting or public relations.
* Experience carrying out complex administrative tasks.
* Working knowledge of marketing procedures and practices.
* Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
* High level of ICT experience, including design packages, Google Suite, MS Office and website updating.
* Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail, aligned with brand standards.
* English and Maths to GCSE/Standard Grade or equivalent (at least Grade 4/C).
