About You
Youre an experienced laboratory professional with a solid understanding of testing standards, quality systems, and team supervision. You take pride in accuracy, safety, and developing others, and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Requirements
* Degree or HNC (NQF Level 46) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Proven supervisory experience within a laboratory or technical testing environment.
* Knowledge of ISO 17025 and other relevant QHSE and accreditation standards.
* Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
* Confident in client liaison, audit preparation, and managing technical documentation.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability under pressure.
About the Opportunity
As a Team Leader / Section Head, youll provide supervisory and technical support to ensure your section meets daily operational, quality, and commercial targets in a safe and compliant manner. Youll also act as deputy to the designated line manager when required.
Key Activities
* Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring testing is carried out accurately, safely, and on time.
* Manage team workload, performance, and training to maintain technical competency.
* Monitor equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure continued compliance.
* Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to ISO 17025, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other standards.
* Authorise test reports and statements of conformity.
* Control purchasing and overtime within agreed budgets.
* Participate in quality and safety reviews, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
* Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, performance, and client satisfaction.
* Support Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives, risk assessments, and COSHH compliance.
* Represent Intertek professionally with clients and industry partners.
