Consultant Psychiatrist – Old Age Psychiatry
Permanent appointment, Full time (10 sessions per week) at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline Hospital Inpatient Mental Health Service. Refers to West Fife Inpatient Mental Health Team covering West Fife.
Overview
A full‑time post within NHS Fife dedicated to old age psychiatry. The role is fully integrated with the OA community mental health team in Queen Margaret Hospital. The post holder will be supported by a cohesive, collegiate group of clinicians, and will participate in CPD and peer supervision. Consultant peer groups meet regularly and there are regular educational events as part of the in‑house programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and management of changes in service delivery, with a particular focus on developing the non‑medical workforce.
* Collaborate with other professionals and agencies within the mental health service.
* Participate in peer supervision, education events and CPA development.
* Lead and manage change initiatives to improve service quality for older people across Fife.
* Support multidisciplinary team colleagues’ professional development.
Eligibility and qualifications
* Fully registered medical practitioner with MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Appropriate CCT or eligible to obtain within 6 months of interview date.
* Support and encouragement for applicants wishing to pursue specialist registration through CESR.
* Legal right to work in the United Kingdom or eligibility for sponsorship (UK Skilled Worker / Health & Care Worker Visa) where applicable.
