About the company
A kiwi brand that has been a quiet success story for the past decade is looking to expand their engineering team with their next fullstack software engineer (PHP/Laravel, VueJS, AWS).
The organisation has been steadily building a product that delights its customers and makes their lives easier. Now it's time to grow the team to ship features faster and capture more of the market.
If you've ever wanted to jump aboard a Kiwi product success story and ride the rocket ship as it takes off, this is your chance.
About the role
This role is for a full-stack engineer with skills in PHP/Laravel and AWS, plus a modern front-end stack like Vue.js or React.
The team is big on code quality and getting things right the first time. If you care about the craft of coding, and don't mind a CI build failing because the linter caught a missing space, this will suit you.
Your day-to-day will include collaborating on requirements, discussing approaches, then writing elegant, well-tested code. This is an engineer's engineering role.
The engineering team is a small, tight-knit bunch who chip in with their expertise when needed. While this isn't a pure DevOps role, being able to dive into CloudWatch logs, troubleshoot GitLab deploys, or suggest improvements to Elastic Beanstalk are all nice-to-haves.
What you will bring
You've worked in a PHP/Laravel environment for years (ideally), and you're comfortable working end-to-end in a small team owning features from day one.
You will need all/most/able-to-fake-it of :
* Experience with PHP and Laravel in a commercial setting.
* Experience with a modern JS framework such as VueJS or React.
* Experience with test driven development (Or atleast writing tests) using PHP Unit
* A desire to leave code in a better state than you found it, using tools such as PHPStan and Laravel Pint
And some/none-but-willing-to-learn of :
* Any experience with AngularJS (1.8) would be highly beneficial as the team migrates legacy pieces of the application to Vue.
* Familiarity with PrimeVue and/or Bootstrap UI libraries (so you know your col-sm-6 from your ml-1).
* Experience using Inertia.js with Laravel to build SPAs would be hugely beneficial.
* Knowledge of Devops processes, especially utilizing Gitlab and AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
Above all, you're willing to get involved and do things right the first time.
Additional information
This role is hybrid in Christchurch and does require a few days in the office working face to face with the team. However, flexibility in working hours and trust to do the work is important in this organization.
The role is only open to candidates with existing working rights within NZ.
