Technical Author – Inorganic chemicals – UK BAT – 32437

Responsibilities:
* Draft BAT Conclusions.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups.
* Present a final document suitable for publication as a new UK-wide environmental standard for industry.
Qualifications:
* Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
* Good understanding of process engineering, environmental issues, regulations and policy in the UK.
* Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data.
* Ability to work with, and write technical documents.
* Good project management skills and drive to complete.
* Experience in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
* Verbal and written communication skills.
* Building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritising, organising tasks and resources.
* Responding flexibly to challenges and adept at building consensus.
* Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures and encourage diversity.
Experience / Skills Required:
* At least 5 years working experience and solid understanding of environmental regulation in the LVIC industry.
* Expert understanding of the large volume inorganic chemicals industry.
* Knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, in particular the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Expertise in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
* Understanding the implications of BAT Conclusions in permits, on industry and the environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritising, organising tasks and resources to ensure timely and effective results.
* Responding flexibly to challenges and adept at building consensus.
* Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage diversity issues in work.
Length of contract: up to 2 years from appointment.
