About Us

We are a smaller than average secondary school, and this is one of our greatest strengths. It allows us to create a learning environment where every student is known, valued and supported. Strong relationships sit at the heart of our school community, reflected in the pride our staff and students take in their school and the positive culture felt from the moment you walk through our doors.

We believe in high expectations of ourselves, our students and one another. We are proud of our outcomes at GCSE and in vocational qualifications, and we also recognise that a truly great education goes beyond examination results. Our Ofsted judgement of GOOD (May 2022) provides a strong platform as we continue to refine and improve our provision.

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the energy to inspire, motivate and challenge students

• Have a clear passion for English and a commitment to continuous improvement

• Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude with colleagues and students

• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a genuine team player

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Teach across Key Stages (as appropriate), preparing students for GCSE examinations

• Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all students, including those with low prior attainment and the more able

• Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor, track and report student progress

• Contribute to the development of an engaging and inclusive English curriculum

• Promote high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning environment

Student Support and Progress

• Support the academic and personal development of students

• Contribute to pastoral systems and student wellbeing

• Maintain high expectations for student achievement and conduct

Wider Contribution

• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school

• Contribute to departmental planning and school improvement priorities

• Engage with professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice

• Participate in enrichment activities and the wider life of the school

What We Offer

• A supportive, welcoming and values-driven school community

• A highly collaborative working environment with committed and passionate colleagues
