Job Description:
Applications are invited for an AHRC CDA doctoral studentship offered by the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, to start in October 2025.
The studentship will be based in the Faculty of Divinity. The successful applicant will work on a collaborative project co-led by Professor Esra Özyürek, University of Cambridge, and Ms Carrie Alderton, co-supervisor and Head of Programmes at the Faith and Belief Forum. Additional supervision is possible from Dr Daniel H. Weiss (Divinity) and Dr Daniel Moulin-Stozek (Education).
This practice-based PhD project will critically investigate approaches to structured interreligious encounter and exchange as deployed in the work of The Faith & Belief Forum, whose programmes span schools, universities, communities, and workplaces. The project will include a focus on the interaction between such programmes and efforts to reduce prejudice and discrimination across various identities, including religion, gender, race, and nationality.
Further details of the project and its aims can be found on the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP website.
Funding:
The DTP studentships will provide an annual maintenance grant to cover living costs (£19,237 stipend + £600 CDA allowance per annum at current rates) and university tuition fees at the home fee level. The fee gap for international candidates will be covered by the University through internal co-funding.
Application process:
Applications should be made through the University Postgraduate Application Portal.
For informal enquiries about the project, please contact the University supervisor.
The University values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity.
