About the role
We're seeking a skilled and driven Test Engineer to join our team at JCB Power Systems, based in Foston, Derby. This site is a global centre of excellence for the design, development, and manufacture of high‑performance diesel engines and integrated power‑train solutions, serving OEMs across the globe. In this role you will be responsible for running and maintaining some of the most advanced internal combustion engine test cells in the world. You’ll monitor engine performance and health using over 300 channels of live data, ensuring optimal operation and reliability.
Key responsibilities
* Running and maintaining advanced internal combustion engine test cells.
* Monitoring and ensuring engine health using upwards of 300 channels of data.
* Carrying out instrumentation, calibration and maintenance.
* Managing complex testing regimes and configuring automated test schedules.
* Ensuring correct installation and population of engine maps and calibration.
* Measuring and controlling, engine stripping & building of prototype engines.
* Complying with legislative requirements.
Qualifications and experience
* HNC level education or degree level candidates; exceptional experience may be considered.
* Sound understanding of modern engines and test equipment.
* Proven experience in development engine testing and fault diagnostics in a test cell environment.
* Computer literacy to run several software applications simultaneously (CP Cadet, ATI/Visu, bespoke instrumentation packages).
* Aptitude for hands‑on electro‑mechanical work.
* Initiative, self‑motivation, resilience and a positive attitude.
* High attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
